Welcome to the City of Ravenna. We are very proud of our City and we invite you to explore our web site and discover a small sampling of what Ravenna has to offer.

The County seat of Portage County, Ravenna is very much "Main Street, USA". Founded in 1799 and developed throughout the 1800s, Ravenna is a wonderful blend of 1800s architecture, century homes, and modern housing and industry. Our downtown area is full of nostalgia, reminiscent of a time when Main Street was a place where people would congregate, converse, and do business.

Whether you're looking to relocate your family, or you're looking for a new location for your business, Ravenna is definitely worth considering. Please visit us and learn what our residents already know... Ravenna is a great place to live, work and play.

Parks and Recreation Event Program Guide

The Ravenna Parks and Recreation Department is publishing a city-wide event program guide to provide a comprehensive resource for the community. We are inviting both the public and private sector businesses to submit their recreational & educational programs, workshops and special events to be included in this publication.

This program guide will be distributed the third week of August to include programs beginning in late August through the end of the year. Distribution will include all the school aged children in Ravenna, and adjacent rural school systems, corporate partners, Senior centers, libraries and various venues throughout the area. Approximately 10,000 pieces will be printed. This collaboration allows us to create a high quality marketing tool that better informs residents about everything Ravenna has to offer. Events will be categorized by demographic (preschool, youth, teen, adult, senior adult, special event, family, etc.). Events will also be listed in chronological order.

Submissions are made online:

New Full Time Patrol Officers
Today the Ravenna Police Department increased our full time patrol staff by three. Mayor Seman swore in Tyler Lohr, Joshua Erb and Christopher Staple from part-time patrolman to full-time patrolman in a ceremony at City Hall in front of their family members and several RPD officers. Because of the strong support from the City Administration and the community, we were fortunate to be able to hire them. It is important for our police officers to maintain good relationships with the public and these three officers have shown that they will support the Department’s community policing efforts to help make Ravenna a safe place to live, work and visit.

The Ravenna Police Department wishes to thank everyone who came together to help apprehend this dangerous criminal. From the brave bank personnel who remained calm and followed their procedures, to the alert witness who directed law enforcement to the suspect’s location and to the law enforcement officers who worked to safely apprehend the suspect. We would also like to extend our thanks to all of the area residents and citizens who cooperated with officials by voluntarily leaving the immediate area during the standoff.
