Welcome to the City of Ravenna. We are very proud of our City and we invite you to explore our web site and discover a small sampling of what Ravenna has to offer.

The County seat of Portage County, Ravenna is very much "Main Street, USA". Founded in 1799 and developed throughout the 1800s, Ravenna is a wonderful blend of 1800s architecture, century homes, and modern housing and industry. Our downtown area is full of nostalgia, reminiscent of a time when Main Street was a place where people would congregate, converse, and do business.

Whether you're looking to relocate your family, or you're looking for a new location for your business, Ravenna is definitely worth considering. Please visit us and learn what our residents already know... Ravenna is a great place to live, work and play.

Ravenna Schools Receive Momentum Award!

The Ravenna City School District recently received the Momentum Award for the 2015 school year.  This award, presented by the Governor's Office and the State Board of Education, recognizes the district's commitment to supporting the academic growth of students from every background and ability level.  Our district received A's on every value-added measure included in Ohio's district report cards.

This award demonstrates the commitment Superintendent Dennis Honkala and his entire staff has toward providing a quality education to our children.  Everyone throughout the district is to be commended for their efforts toward making our community a wonderful place to live and work!

Safety Town

Mayor Frank Seman, pictured here with Cecelia Jones, a kindergartner in Theresa Hodges' class at West Park Elementary, recently visited the school to talk about Safety Town.  Mayor Seman is offering a drawing for the boys and girls who sign up this year for a chance to win a ride in a police car or fire truck in the Balloon-A-Fair parade.  Mayor Seman is concerned about dwindling participation in Safety Town and wanted to talk to the children about learning to be safe citizens.  This year, the program is adding a gun safety lesson from a police officer to educate children about the dangers of guns.

The deadline to register for Safety Town has been extended through June 3rd.  The program takes place from June 20 to June 24 at West Park Elementary.

Those wanting to register can do so by clicking HERE or by contacting the Ravenna Parks and Recreation Department at 330.296.2864.
